The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a pre-health professions advisor for the Interprofessional Center for Health Careers (Center). The Center serves a large and diverse student population primarily composed of undergraduate students, but may also include graduate students and Pitt alumni, who aspire to careers in health care, health sciences, and health policy.
The team of advisors in the Center provide information, support, and guidance as students explore career options; develop competitive portfolios of educational, experiential, and extra-curricular experiences; hone interview skills; and prepare applications to graduate or graduate professional educational programs.
The position provides the opportunity work in a new and growing campus unit (Center established in 2018) with varied concurrent roles ranging from working 1:1 with students to presenting to small and large groups of students, and presenting to large groups of potential applicants and their families.
Minimum of 2 years providing developmental advising to diverse student and/or alumni populations, preferably in health care, health sciences, or health policy Experience guiding student development of applications for professional and/or graduate program admission
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and presentation skills Master's degree or higher in higher education, counseling, and/or one of the health professions
