This position will remain open until a successful candidate has been identified.
Under supervision of the Principal Investigator, and in coloration with the Program Manager, Project Coordinator and Study Staff, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will perform screenings and evaluate patients for specific research protocols. Responsibilities include routine daily and follow-up clinical evaluations, assist with protocol management, and maintenance of protocol evaluation for reproductive health of adult women and adolescent girls who either (a) recently experienced sexual violence or (b) currently sexually active. May serve as liaison in these areas, as needed.
Current State of California Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) license.
BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Minimum one year licensed NP work experience.
Background in HIV/AIDS and/or sexual violence research. Theoretical knowledge of biological science and demonstrated training in Epidemiology.
Demonstrated experience providing forensic exams for survivors of sexual assault.
Must be able to perform venipuncture.
Clinical nursing experience and knowledge of standard patient care and medical procedures in inpatient and outpatient setting.
Experience performing common diagnostic tests, exam procedures, knowledge of supplies and/or equipment needed, infection control mechanisms and ability to accurately record results in medical charts and protocol manuals.
Proven experience providing comprehensive physical examinations and history with emphasis on reproductive health and vaginal exams for adult women and adolescent girls.
Demonstrated experience using established protocols and ability to identify and establish new protocols as indicated.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to deal courteously and effectively with a broad range of professionals, paraprofessionals, the public and patients.
Strong organization skills in order to rapidly prioritize activities in a high volume, dynamic, and demanding clinic and hospital setting.
Fluency in English and Spanish, including Spanish medical language knowledge.
Knowledge of patient education resources at UCSD Medical Center and in the community.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
