This position is responsible for the Audio Visual and Convention Services departments within the Blackwell Hotel and Pfahl Conference Center. Must strive to exceed client and guest expectations while providing flawlessly executed events and maintaining a positive relationship throughout all events. Provides technical support for programs and events as well as making sure event set-ups are accurate to guests requests; maintains, prepares, and sets up equipment and space for event use; meets with clients when requested; maintains good working knowledge and inventory of equipment such as digital projectors, laptop, computers, audio equipment, smart podiums, and other a/v equipment; has knowledge of new technologies and incorporates them when possible at the hotel; responsible for ordering new and replacement equipment; works independently with little supervision and has the ability to make judgement calls when necessary to ensure success of event; leads departments in day-to-day operations in addition to hiring, training, coaching and mentoring staff; creates and delegates daily checklists to staff with thorough follow-up; monitors events and checks in on clients throughout the day; handles changes and challenges in a professional and timely manner; assures the cleanliness and conditions of the event space before, during and after events; attends daily sheets meeting with catering, culinary and banquet departments to ensure event information is correct and accurate; attends weekly staff meetings; assists in the set-up of tables, chairs, coffee breaks, buffet tables, break tables; carries out policies and procedures as determined by the Blackwell Hotel. Shifts will vary and include evening, weekends and holiday hours.
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience with setup and workings of A/V equipment including sound systems, equipment for computer presentations and light systems; ability to troubleshoot problems and coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs; demonstrated success in achieving service goals in conference center or customer service environment.
Target Salary: $16.00 - $18.00 Hourly
