Position Summary: Reporting to the Civil Rights and Title IX Coordinator, develops and administers the College's policies regarding disability services and accommodations for students. Reviews disability documentation and develops services and accommodation plans for students with disabilities. Assists in managing the Disability Resource Center (DRC).
Essential Functions: Offer is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
Develops and implements ADA program policies, procedures and services. Communicates program activities, services and outcomes to institutional administrators and departments. Maintains current knowledge of emerging issues in ADA and changes in ADA case law which would impact services in higher education. Administers DRC budget. Evaluates/compiles reports of DRC activities, services, and statistics. Distributes DRC information to campus departments (e.g. Health Services, Counseling Services). Acts as an ADA liaison between faculty, staff, Facilities Services, Admissions, Commons Administration, Counseling and Human Relations, Dean of the College, Library and Information Systems, College Advancement, the Health Center, the Center for Teaching, Learning and Research, etc. Coordinates and administers ADA-related services to students with disabilities including but not limited to note-taking services, auxiliary aides, reader services, scribe services, interpreter services and ADA equipment services. Researches and compiles educational materials for the DRC. Provides ADA support to the Language Schools, Middlebury Schools Abroad, Study Abroad Program, Bread Loaf School of English, the Bread Loaf Writers Conference, and other Middlebury-related programs. Conducts campus-wide outreach, education, and advocacy that aims to reduce systemic barriers and to promote disability awareness and more inclusive policies and practices. Serves on campus committees to develop institutional policies and procedures and address regulatory issues regarding students with disabilities. Responds to inquiries from current and prospective students or parents. Consults with students about appropriate individualized accommodations based on documentation. Processes accommodation requests for services based upon documentation of a disability. Arranges individualized accommodations for students (e.g. testing accommodations). Serves as an advocate for students with certified disabilities. Assists students in self-monitoring the effectiveness of accommodations. Supervises student employees. Maintains confidential records. Handles phone inquiries. Handles and prepares correspondence.

Qualifcation Education: BA required; masters and/or substantial experience in a related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective project management, organizational and analytical skills Working knowledge of legislation and practice related to disabilities and the ADA. Knowledge of specific disabling conditions as related to higher education is preferred Ability to build trust and work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners and to balance the multiple, varying interests of diverse stakeholders Understanding and sensitivity to the potential stigma of being a person with a disability Knowledge of the challenges facing individuals from various underrepresented and marginalized populations Knowledge of the ways intersecting systems of oppression impact people with disabilities Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion and social justice Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills, including training and presentation skills Ability to exercise good judgment and to manage sensitive information Ability to work independently, under pressure, and to meet deadlines
Experience: Experience with audio-visual, computing and other technology relevant to the responsibilities of the position Experience in ADA-related technical fields Experience providing culturally competent and inclusive support services for students from various underrepresented communities
