Position Summary: The Admissions Counselor/Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions (title commensurate with experience) actively recruits prospective students enrolled in Yeshiva University's core feeder high schools as well as identifies other environments for recruitment opportunities of prospective students.
Travel to high schools throughout the United States and Canada for purposes of recruitment
Present to groups of students and parents at college fairs at the high schools
Conduct individual admissions interviews at the high schools
Interview admissions applicants on campus
Organize and participate in parlor nights for potential students/parents at homes of local supportive alumni
Develop ongoing relationships with college advisors at the schools
Review applications and provide recommendations and background on admissions decisions to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions
Establish and maintain ongoing communication with prospective students
Meet admissions goals and metrics, ensuring successful yield from assigned territories
Coordinate individualized campus visits for prospective students and their families
Train and supervise student tour guides and maintain campus tour schedule
Work closely with admissions team to plan and implement yearly recruitment events (ie: Open House, athletic tournaments, high school class visits)
Facilitate various kinds of services for incoming students related to student finance, registration, and advising
Provide counseling and customer service to students and families throughout the admissions and enrollment cycle, responding to inquiries promptly and professionally
Perform other special projects as assigned
Experience & Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree required and prior related experience (1-2yrs) in a university setting preferred
Familiarity with the YU undergraduate dual curriculum
Some degree of knowledge of higher education administration and norms, ideally from having worked in some aspect of higher education administrations, admissions, or student services
Skills & Competencies:
Develops effective written communications and uses them appropriately
Interacts and proactively shares information with internal and external contacts where appropriate
Develops and maintains positive relationships with peers, students and employees and high school contacts
Assumes responsibility to ensure issues/concerns will be addressed and monitors them through conclusion
Identifies, defines and analyzes information and situations before recommending a course of action
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Effectively manages own time and resources
Excellent oral communication skills, including public speaking
