The Office of College Communications at The College at Brockport, State University of New York is accepting applications for a Graphic Designer. The Graphic Designer is responsible for helping to support the graphic design needs of the College in both print and digital media. The Graphic Designer creates high-quality, professional print material and digital assets to be used for undergraduate, graduate, international recruitment, retention efforts, fundraising, event promotion and other support material as needed.
The Graphic Designer works within in The Office of College Communications and supports The Office of Undergraduate Admissions, The Center for Graduate Studies, Special Sessions, Global Education, Advancement and many other College agencies and departments to help create printed materials and electronic media showcasing the best Brockport has to offer.
Designs, prints and digitalizes material that supports the marketing efforts of the College. Meets with campus colleagues to discuss the scope of projects and to determine the specifications for requested services. Searches for images and graphic designs that are attractive to multiple audiences including, but not limited to, potential students. Engages in strategic and creative efforts and execution. Acts as the project manager through completion of each job to ensure deadlines are met. Prepares layouts as necessary, makes copies and designs consistent with brand standards. Reviews designs for errors before printing or publishing. Collaborates with the campus print shop and the mailroom to ensure timely and accurate printing and mailing of materials. Assists with editing and modifying of existing webpages.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university; minimum two years professional experience as a designer; proficient in Adobe Creative Suite products; working knowledge of HTML; demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple projects; willingness to contribute to a positive work environment and work collaboratively as part of a team; demonstrated ability to take direction from written or spoken ideas and convert them seamlessly into design concepts; demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment; and, excellent attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS); experience working with a Content Management System (CMS), animated HTML5, coding and testing and HTML email; familiarity and experience using multiple social media platforms; and, previous experience in higher education preferably marketing and/or advertising experience.
Department Description The Office of College Communications promotes the mission, reputation and identity of The College at Brockport. It consists of 16 professional staff members who serve as writers, marketers, graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and web professionals who work diligently to help recruit talented students to the College and share the College's story with its various stakeholders.
