Summary of Duties: The Programmer Data Analyst (Business Data Analyst) is responsible for the development, implementation, operation, maintenance, documentation, and support of the WSU Foundation data management, database programming. This position is responsible for developing Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes that build Data Warehouses allowing reports, analytics and applications to function at scale. This person will be proficient at translating business requirements into data models that support production reports, analytics and applications. This person will have a strong understanding of data strategy and development, and handling administrator functions as well.
Automation, Programming and Integration- 65% Exercise extensive knowledge of the methods and tools used in electronic data processing, to analyze, design and build SSIS packages.
Document, process, and provide data for ad-hoc reporting requirements.
Design, develop and support ETL processes and tools for building Data Warehouses.
Utilize native SQL and third party tools to produce effective database development. Perform unit tests on processes and prepare required programs and scripts.
Conduct root cause analysis and resolves performance, production problems and data issues.
Provide weekly status reports to direct supervisor.
Perform tests, validate data flows, and prepare ETL processes according to business requirements and incorporate business requirements into all design specifications.
Data Management- 30% Coordinate work with other IT and Data team in the analysis and design of ETL package and scheduling testing.
Train student programmers and analysts for specific tasks or assignments related to data management projects.
Establish and enforce data warehousing standards to meet requirements and business needs.
Effectively use data life cycle management (DLM) for completing small to medium sized projects.
Provide legacy application support to maintain the current functionality. Support legacy reporting and older data integration ETL packages.
Review ETL programs for compliance with best practices, standards, enterprise architecture and documentation requirements, ETL processes, programs and scripts.
Gather data and enter it accurately and efficiently into a database.
Analyze data cleansing procedures and data integrity functions. Provide reports of findings to team lead/manager for review.
Maintain accurate records of these findings. Document technical and system specification documents and ETL processes. Conduct routine data cleansing and quality control processes.
Capture business requirements, propose data models and validate proof-of-concepts designs.
Prepare documents and data flow diagrams that support proof-of-concepts and production models.
Develop and schedule ETL processes.
Develop and maintain audit and validation processes to detect data integrity problems.
Develop and perform tests on all ETL code for system data integration

Required Qualifications: Positions require a Bachelors degree in a related field AND three (3) years of professional experience in business data analysis or related; OR a combination of education and experience totaling seven (7) years from which comparable knowledge and ability are acquired.
