Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in a related field required. Previous experience coordinating or preparing employment based immigration petitions (H-1, J-1, permanent residency and other visa types) at a university or college is preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Coordinates and acts as the liaison for the university immigration related employment based petition process for staff and faculty employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Coordinates immigration related employment based petitions for staff and faculty employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. Works closely with hiring department and college administrators and staff, selected applicants/employees, the Office of International Programs, and approved immigration attorneys and legal staff to coordinate appropriate petition processes. Monitors employment authorization end dates and processes applicable I9 verifications. Develops and delivers training, workshops, and materials aimed at communicating the university immigration process and procedures. Maintains appropriate documentation relating to visas, petitions, and other information related to the employment based immigration process. Ensures compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. Monitors changes in immigration and Department of Labor (DOL) legislation and updates processes in accordance with best practices. Prepares and reviews reports on the effectiveness of program activities. Prepares program budget requests. Confers with administrators, staff, and faculty on program issues and process improvement. Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates program and processes. Interprets policies, rules, and regulations, ensuring compliance. Performs other related duties as assigned.
