JOB TITLE: Director for Undergraduate Admissions DEPARTMENT: Admissions REPORTS TO: Assistant Vice President for Admissions
JOB SUMMARY: The position works to realize the undergraduate enrollment goals of the University by providing leadership over the recruitment and yield activities of the undergraduate admissions team. The Director assists the AVP with market research, development of marketing and outreach strategies, enrollment activities, and administrative policies and procedures. This position is directly responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and assessment of undergraduate recruitment and admissions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Works with the AVP to design, develop and direct the undergraduate recruitment strategies for the University. • Monitors and assesses quality of recruitment and yield activities of undergraduate admissions operations. Works to deliver maximum conversion rates within prospect, applicant, and accept pools. • Supervises 6 undergraduate counselors, and assigns counselor projects, assignments, and areas of responsibility. Projects include database management, campus visit experiences, educator relations, and special projects. • Serves as liaison to the School Deans, and Program Directors, on all undergraduate matters. • Works in collaboration with the Director of Visitor Experience to craft optimal Visitor Services operations and activities, including reception, tours, open houses, auditions, and information sessions. • Monitors recruitment budget for undergraduate admissions. • Cultivates an environment of teamwork, commitment, and ownership among staff. • Assists AVP in the development and assessment of specialized recruitment initiatives for transfer, international, and non-traditional audiences. • Serves as contact to campus offices and departments in support of Admissions initiatives. • Serves as liaison for secondary schools, organizations, and agencies, developing and maintaining long-term relationships. • Assists the AVP with special projects, research, and initiatives as needed. • Maintains reports and provides outcomes analysis of recruitment and relationship-building activities. • Oversee transfer credit evaluation process. • Participates in on and off-campus recruitment activities and events throughout the year, including some weekends and evenings. • Assesses, enhances, and provides staff training, development, and mentorship. • Assists with all aspects of the Admissions operations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Five years of progressive professional admissions, or closely-related experience. • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, Master’s degree preferred. • Ability to conduct thorough and meaningful research and data analysis, informing actionable goals. • A positive attitude, a people-centric approach to work, and a good sense of humor. • Understanding of technology, and how it informs and supports best business practices. • Computer skills including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, customer relationship management systems, student information systems, and the ability to learn new systems quickly and thoroughly. • Capacity to work independently, to assess needs, and to provide creative solutions. • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking. • Skilled at customized interactions, deeply connecting with individuals, and inspiring people to action. • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and opinions. • Flexibility and quick-responsiveness to new situations and changes. • Interest in, and commitment to the goals of higher education. • Ability to work evenings and weekends, travel, with current driver’s license, and passport. • Bilingual or multilingual preferred. • Experience in a non-profit, specialized college or university with audition or portfolio requirements. • Experience contributing to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within higher education context.
