The Livestock Technician will be responsible for care and management of livestock at the Agriculture Research and Education Center (AREC). While the job will focus mainly on beef cattle, other livestock housed at AREC excluding dairy and equine animals will fall under the purview of the position. Duties will include: nutritional and welfare care of livestock, breeding and herd improvements, livestock facilitation for classroom laboratories, marketing livestock, maintaining livestock associated facilities and equipment, assistance in crop and forage harvest, aid in livestock research, oversight of student workers, aid in tours, workshops, and other events taking place at AREC, purchasing of supplies and materials associated with the unit, and managing associated budget. The Livestock Technician will communicate with and assist Animal Science Faculty to ensure a positive educational experience for students enrolled in laboratories at AREC. The Livestock Technician will pursue his/her M.S. in Agriculture at WKU.
BS in Agriculture or related field and experience with livestock production.
