Underthe supervision of the Director of Stewardship, contribute as needed to theactivities of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) Office of Stewardship.Provide support to all functions which requires the ability to prioritizemultiple projects according to deadlines and the ability to exerciseindependent judgment. This positionreports to the Director of Stewardship.
TheDepartment of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) assists VanderbiltUniversity in securing the resources, both human and financial, that arerequired to achieve its mission and goals. The Department is responsible for the identification, cultivation,solicitation, and stewardship of individuals and organizations whose charitableobjectives are consistent with those of Vanderbilt University's teaching andresearch programs.
Key Functionsand Expected Performance:
Work collaboratively with the Stewardship and Donor Relations teams to ensure that projects are completed according to deadlines, with accuracy, quality, and integrity. Including: continuously compile, review and analyze project outcomes against established goals, objectives and timelines
Assist with the management of annual stewardship reporting ofendowed and non-endowed funds, including scholarship stewardship, endowed chairreports, planned giving stewardship and miscellaneous endowed funds
Support annual stewardship projects and activities, including stewardship of major donors, planned gift donors and ad hoc stewardship requests
Coordinate stewardship contact with donors as well as thecompilation of personalized stewardship reports and customized financialreports
Research and compile endowed scholarship and other fund information for special projects or requests from DAR colleagues, including department leadership
Prepare standard materials for stewardship activities, to include producing letters, gaining appropriate signatures, tracking progress, and ensuring timely delivery
Coordinate annual and daily stewardship reporting activities and prospect management activities including data entry, spreadsheet maintenance and report maintenance
Proofread and edit letters and documents
Additional support for the Prospect Management and Strategic Initiatives teams
Assist Prospect Management team in day-to-day management of development officer portfolios
Support related activities for Vanderbilt's Campaign Cabinet, acampaign volunteer engagement organization
Provide ad hoc support for strategic initiatives within DAR
Handle sensitive donor and student information in the strictest confidence, according to departmental and institutional policies
Work cooperatively with Development and Alumni Relations colleagues
Maintain strong and effective relationships with Vanderbilt faculty and staff external to DAR
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Thisposition does not have supervisory responsibility; this position reportsadministratively and functionally to the Director of Stewardship.
Bachelor's degree is necessary
One year of relevant experience is necessary
Superior verbal and written communication skills are required
Ability to exercise good judgment in the handling of confidential information
Ability to use current computer technology, such as Windows,Excel, Word, and Vanderbilt's donor management system
Experience in stewardship, donor relations, finance or development research is preferred
Knowledge of software programs applicable to development is desirable
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, professional team player with courteous interpersonal skills and an excellent customer service attitude
Candidate must also have the capacity to perform in an intellectually rigorous and complex academic environment
The ability to apply sound judgment in all situations is required, as are excellent organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail
Ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities are essential
