The University of South Carolina Upstate seeks a Coordinator of Access Services for a non-tenure track, 12-month appointment. The position coordinates the daily operations of an active access services program including circulation, reserves, interlibrary loan, and stacks maintenance. The Coordinator is responsible for supervising four full-time staff and a pool of student assistants. The coordinator will 1) participate in short-and long-range planning for the library, 2) provide for an innovative access services environment, 3) stay abreast of issues and trends, 4) share, provide, and conduct professional development opportunities for colleagues, 5) facilitate discussion of ideas to improve/modify access services, 6) encourage and maintain a"student first" attitude towards services, operations, and procedures, and 7) participate in analysis, testing, and decisions about new electronic products and services. The coordinator will participate in the information literacy instruction program, including teaching sessions for first-year composition classes and University 101 plus developing LibGuides and other instructional materials for services and liaison areas. The Coordinator must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapt to changing physical spaces, and have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of print and electronic resources, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

USC Upstate is seeking teacher-scholars who (i) have a commitment to excellence in teaching and working with a diverse student population and (ii) show clear potential for scholarly research and publication. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in student and civic engagement and active learning pedagogies, (e.g. service-learning, mentoring undergraduate research, and the scholarship of teaching, learning and application). Experience with teaching online or hybrid courses is a plus. The USC Upstate Library serves the information and research needs of the students, staff, and faculty of the university. Library Faculty teach information literacy sessions in all English 101 and 102 sections and in upper division classes upon request. There is a 24/7 computer lab as well as 24/7 electronic Ask-A-Librarian reference service. The Library holds more than 200,000 print volumes, over 300 databases, more than 30,000 electronic journals, and several special collections. The library is part of the statewide consortium PASCAL (Partnerships Among South Carolina Academic Libraries) and of the Carolina Consortium which include libraries from both North and South Carolina. Library Faculty who staff the reference desk answer more than 7,000 questions each year.
