The Senior Education Specialist supports the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) faculty by providing extra instruction and tutoring to all Midwestern University students but with priority to CCP students enrolled in CGS-run Basic Science courses. This individual may be required to work evening and weekend hours. This position reports to the Associate Dean for the College of Graduate Studies
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Education Specialist’s duties are primarily to:
Meet weekly with basic science faculty who teach required PSI courses (Biochemistry, Physiology, Immunology) to review and discuss course content.
Attend classes as necessary
Provide group review sessions for students prior to exams
As time allows, serve as workshop facilitator for Biochemistry courses
Provide weekly office hours for students
Track student progress and provide one-on-one tutoring for select students
Assist students in developing learning strategies through coursework and/or workshops
Manage the Pharmacy Readiness Program; update annually, administer pre/post tests, analyze data
Supervise PS3students who serve as Student Education Assistant for the PS2 students
Serve on appropriate College committees as requested
Other duties assigned by the Dean

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, microbiology, physiology, biological sciences or related field is required. Master’s degree in an educational discipline or biological sciences or related field required. 3-5 years of teaching at the college or junior college level is required.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Outstanding oral communication and excellent writing skills
Proficient computer usage skills. Proficiency with MS Office (Work, Excel, Outlook)
Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Reasoning Ability Intermediate skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Mathematical Ability Intermediate skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
