With over 650 student-athletes competing throughout UW's 22 sports programs, the department of Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to a leading-edge student-athlete experience, and offering student-athletes the ability to compete for NCAA, IRA, and Pac-12 championships while working toward a degree from one of the world's leading public research universities.This position reports to the Head Coach of Men's Rowing and will assist in creating a positive student athlete experience in personal, academic, and rowing development and excellence, and enhancement of a positive team culture. Assist with the following responsibilities, as assigned:*Develop and carry out the "Beyond the Boat" Life Skills Program.*Develop training and conditioning programs for assigned student athletes.*Organize and conduct coaching of assigned athletes during practices and competition.*Travel with the team, assist with supervision and/or logistics of team travel.*Monitor academic progress.*Racing shell repair and maintenance, launch maintenance, course maintenance.*Coordinate and/or assist with: development of a plan for recruitment of prospective student athletes, evaluations, communications, database management, and relationships with club, high school and national team coaches. May set up official and unofficial visits.*Assist with producing media and marketing materials, social media, print media, post production video, and live streaming.*Build and maintain positive relationships with faculty and staff on campus.*Driving to training and competition sites (student athlete transport, trailer, etc.)*Fundraising and alumni relations.*Prepare department reports and maintain records.*May assist with media relations.*Other duties as assigned.Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pac-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree, successful competitive experience in rowing, and 2-3 year coaching experience. High level of technical rowing knowledge required. Proven ability to relate to student athletes.DESIRED: Knowledge in biomechanics, physiology and strength training highly desired.
