Department: MED-Clinical Trials Unit Salary/Grade: RES/
Under general supervision and according to standard practice or general instruction, directly supports the research initiatives of the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute Clinical Trials Unit. Responsible for outcomes and process improvement for the BCVI Cardiovascular Outcomes Program which includes reporting for national registries such as the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and the American College of Cardiology National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) national database. Responsibilities related to this position include collecting cardiovascular data from both inpatient and outpatient data sources, entering information into the data repository, monitoring data integrity, generating monthly reports and analyzing data. In addition, the person in this position will have some involvement with high-quality cardiovascular research studies providing support for subjects enrolled in research trials.
Coordinates the implementation of registry activity at Northwestern and subsites.
Provides ongoing monitoring of registry metrics. Records/abstracts data in registry database. Tracks registry follow-up visits/calls in the medical record. Notifies investigators/clinicians of opportunities for enhanced care. Support measure to address the identified areas.
Responsible for ongoing data collection and maintenance of confidential records. Reviews registry forms, files and reports for completeness, accuracy, consistency and compliance (quality control). Ensures appropriate and timely transmission of clincal data to registty depostory. Responds in a timely manner to requests for data clarifications and queries. The study nurse will assemble medical information (results of physical examination, ECG, vital signs) for review and presentation for research and quality initiatives
Performs other related duties as assigned
BS in nursing with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical environment or clinical research role in an academic or the equivalent combination of education and experience where similar knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired.
RN Licensure in Illinois required.

Master of Science degree.
National registry experience.
