About the Position: Extension and International Programs collaborates with University departments and colleges on unique programs for students from the community and around the world. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as Director, Innovation and Engagement. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
The Director, Innovation and Engagement identifies self-support opportunities as aligned with the vision and values of the institution. Must have a deep interest in, and commitment to, self-support programs in higher education, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a commitment to high-quality partnerships across the university and community. Considers private and public sector trends and interests in proposing business development opportunities. In partnership with internal and external constituencies, the Director will identify, develop, and support programs and relationships that advance the strategic self-support goals of the organization and the university. Develops, nurtures and manages executive level relationships within the public and private sectors of the local business community. Supports organizational capacity to assess possibilities, legal and policy context, partnerships required, steward of place components, and return on investment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications: Masters Degree from an accredited college or university required. Minimum of 7-10 years successful experience in a self-support environment in higher education developing and promoting programs both within the university and the community. The ability to conceptualize trends, opportunities and the potential for innovation. Experience in leading the initiation and implementation of relevant, timely, revenue-generating programs. Knowledge of financial/budget management, marketing, strategic planning and business research (industry analysis, competitive benchmarking, etc.). Excellent critical thinking skills including analysis, problem solving, decision making and conceptualizing. Significant experience developing and nurturing partnerships, leading and managing collaborations and achieving results. Ability to lead and champion change and work effectively with ambiguity. Proven leadership and demonstrated accountability, integrity, influence and future focus. The experience and ability to lead and manage people, set goals and evaluate performance. Strong understanding of the significance of environment/culture and ability to align mission, goals and strategies of the unit and university. Demonstrated commitment to organizational excellence.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position. .
Special Working Conditions: The scope of responsibilities for this position includes the making or participating in the making of decisions that may have a material financial benefit on the incumbent. Therefore, you will be required to file an initial Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interests within thirty (30) days from date of hire and on an annual basis; and complete the CSU sponsored ethics on-line training within thirty (30) days of appointment, and at least once during each consecutive period of two calendar years following the appointment.
