The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Transplantation, is searching for a full-time assistant professor. The successful applicant will specialize in abdominal transplantation. Responsibilities will include transplant surgery, outpatient clinic, inpatient rounding and management, donor recovery and management, multidisciplinary meeting participation, patient care and related teaching, as well as participation in academic endeavors. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students. Compensation, including a generous package of fringe benefits, is dependent upon qualifications. We especially welcome applicants with vascular access and hepatobiliary surgery experience, laparascopic nephrectomy experience, and availability to begin employment during calendar year 2018. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Surgery or equivalent, and 4) have completed an American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) accredited fellowship or equivalent training in kidney and/or liver transplantation (pancreas experience preferred but not mandatory).
