Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement Services, this position will have responsibility for the continued improvement and enhancement of University Advancement reporting and analytics. The Assistant Director for Reporting and Analytics will continually collaborate with the other members of the University Advancement team to foster stronger and growing relationships between the university and our constituents through the use of information. This position will ensure the reporting and analytics needs of University Advancement are being meet in an accurate and efficient manner, while also helping the team understand how to best utilize the information. This position will use statistical analysis and data modeling tools and techniques to proactively look for opportunities in every area of University Advancement to innovate and positively impact philanthropic and engagement activities. This position will work closely with central Information Technology assisting in data governance and designing visual analytics. This position will be responsible for the completion of larger, division wide, reporting needs including, but not limited to, the annual VSE report, the annual University Advancement Planning Document, and reporting for the Board of Trustees.
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Skills Or Experience:
Have prior experience with fundraising or possess enthusiasm to learn about fundraising operations and understand how reporting and analytics is being utilized to enhance and improve these efforts at other organizations
Exceptional deductive and inductive reasoning skills
Proficiency in SQL or other database query tools and relational databases as well as knowledge of report writing; experience using Blackbaud's The Raiser's Edge NXT and Crystal Reports is a plus
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel or relevant software for extracting, managing, manipulating, aggregating, analyzing, visualizing, and reporting data
Intellectually curious with an enormous love for data and for predicting behavior using demographic and activity data
Rich experience in statistical analysis and modeling techniques including: probability and statistical models, forecasting techniques, time series and trend analysis, regression, analysis of variance and multivariate analysis, factor analysis, hypothesis testing etc.
Self-motivated with a strong orientation for customer service and the ability to explain sophisticated technical concepts to all levels of colleagues
High degree of technical ability and hands-on experience with data mining solutions
Demonstrated ability in using data visualization software and tools, creating visualizations for presentations, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create visually appealing and easy-to-read reports that drive strategy within the division and inform leadership and partners of results
Use database query, export, and reporting tools to extract, manipulate, analyze, visualize and report data, trends and patterns
Collaborate with various University Advancement offices to understand their information and business needs and develop innovative and effective data reporting and analysis solutions
Leverage analytics to support the goals of the University Advancement office – ranging from strategy development to the application of predictive models and metrics to increase fundraising, participation, and engagement
Use data and analytics to assess existing programs and segments and make recommendations for improvement
Synthesize information and develop key findings that will drive strategic decisions across the department
Monitor performance of specific projects and overall results; provide projections and forecasts of activity and goals.
Partner with other team members to develop segmentation strategies and analysis of results
Constantly review gaps in data and research/recommend changes to processes/procedures in order to better perform data analytics and deliver results
Contribute to the evaluation of vendors and analysis tools
Maintain proficiency and continuously develop expertise in new developments in the reporting and analytics field
Work closely with the Office of Information Technologies to define parameters for data use and access management.
Serve as a backup for the Senior Director of Advancement Services
