Western Kentucky University is seeking candidates for a nine-month, tenure-eligible position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Interior Design program with a doctorate/terminal degree (M.Arch., M.F.A.) or non-tenure eligible at the lecturer level without a doctorate/terminal degree. The start date for the position is August 2019.
The Department of Applied Human Sciences offers undergraduate concentrations in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management; Nutrition and Dietetics; Food, Nutrition, and Wellness; Family and Consumer Sciences Education; Child Studies, Family Studies; Interior Design; and Fashion Merchandising. The Hospitality Management and Dietetics program also offers a nine-month Dietetics Internship as a graduate certificate. The department offers a Child and Family graduate degree. Seventeen full-time faculty members serve approximately 800 undergraduate students in the department.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses across the interior design curriculum. Additional duties include: development and delivery of web-based courses; curriculum development; work with student organizations and relevant industry groups; promotion of the program; student advisement, community service; research; and participation on departmental, college, and university committees.
The candidate must hold a doctorate/terminal degree (M.Arch., M.F.A.) for the Assistant Professor level or will be non-tenure eligible at the lecturer level without a doctorate/terminal degree.
