Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Vice President, Research Administration for the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED). The position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Research and Economic Development and is jointly accountable to the Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration for financial management matters. As part of the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED), the Vice President, Research Administration (VP-RA) provides leadership and management of critical research activities in the administration of sponsored projects, both pre- and post-award, and in research regulatory affairs. This oversight involves the provision of essential operational support for research-related activities that span all campuses of the University.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Directs the development, implementation and oversight of all sponsored projects policies that relate to awards, ensuring that policies are in compliance with federal, state, and other funding agencies.
Provides leadership for research regulatory affairs, including human subjects protection, conflict of interest, and research data integrity.
Responsible for the directors of pre-award, post-award, research development, and research regulatory affairs.
Ensures maintenance and improvement of the university-wide pre-award database, RAPSS.
Serves as an advisor regarding the integration of systems with Oracle.
Oversees all effort reporting systems, policies, and processes.
Minimum Education and Experience:
A minimum of ten (10) or more years of experience with research grants and administration.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Possesses personal and professional integrity
Excellent interpersonal skills as well as political astuteness and should be able to convey a sense of energy, openness and optimism with a collaborative, consensus-building, yet decisive management style
Must show demonstrated experience in leading change management, strategy development and policy development
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Travel to all campuses of the university; travel to and attendance at meetings as appropriate to carry out job requirements.
