Job Summary: Under general supervision, independently develop, implement and manage two complex and comprehensive graduate program in Biostatistics (GGB) and graduate group in Statistics (GPS). Responsible for coordinating outreach and recruitment activities, planning and hosting events, and performing articulation for GGB and GPS course requirements. Coordinate the design and update of GGB and GPS web pages. Maintain alumni databases, relationships and communication. Manage two separate graduate group/program budgets including all block grants, fellowships, awards, and work-study funds. Independently advise applicants, students and faculty of program requirements, curriculum planning, policies, resources, and financial aid for both programs. Counsel students on personal and academic issues impacting performance, time to degree, and future career options for both programs. Perform analytical writing for GGB and GPS program reviews including synthesizing statistics and information on student performance, funding, faculty involvement, alumni placement. Supervise the Statistics undergraduate advisor and the Master's Program Advisor, both full-time employees.
Physical Demands: Sit at a computer for extended periods of time. Lift up to 20#.
Work Environment: Work occasional overtime. Some travel required for out of town events and field trips. Must be able to travel between buildings. Work with frequent interruptions.

Minimum Qualifications: Supervisory/leadership experience to hire, train, direct and motivate staff and student employees.
Advising skills to recognize and handle difficult/unpleasant situations; exercise discretion; identify problems and needs; make competent referrals; develop solutions; and maintain confidentiality.
Experience with policies, procedures and requirements related to graduate student groups and programs including student fees, fellowship/grant regulations, and student services to appropriate referrals.
Experience with graduate group recruitment including coordinating outreach activities and hosting events.
Interpersonal and communication skills to make presentations, communicate and relate tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse group of people including faculty, staff, students and the public.
Writing, editing and proofreading skills to answer correspondence, write reports and develop informational materials using correct grammar and spelling.
Oral and public speaking skills.
Management skills to lead, plan, coordinate, evaluate, initiate creative projects and solve problems.
Skills in word-processing, spreadsheet, database and internet programs/applications to prepare correspondence, create extensive reports and informational materials, obtain information and manage web pages.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and skill using student information system relating to student registration and course support (Banner).
Knowledge and skill with on-line payroll/personnel system (PPS), on-line course scheduling and on-line statistical data reports (DESII).
Knowledge of campus academic, student and community services and resources, and required UC Davis employment forms and attachments, including immigration forms.
Knowledge of general objectives and policies of the unit and campus concerning various graduate programs, and non-traditional and international constituencies.
Skills to project cost estimates, budgets, and assemble statistical reports.
