Essential Functions: The Research Associate will carry out research on power electronics, produce deliverables, and complete tasks for sponsored projects. Also, obtain and maintain grant funding. Essential Functions:Perform research on power electronics, implementing and testing power electronic converters (including both hardware and software).Prepare project reports and monitor expenses on the grant.Write proposals and obtain grant funding.Prepare and present journal or conference papers.Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: PhD degree in Electrical Engineering (with a specialty in Power Electronics).5+ years of experience in power electronic converter design and implementation.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Proficiency in various converter topologies, modulation, and control.Proficiency in electric motor control theory, thermal management, and mechanical structure design.Hands on experience with modeling, simulation, design, implementation, testing, and debugging, power conversion systems.Experience with wide bandgap devices (SiC and GaN), and their applications.Familiar with analog and digital circuit design.Familiar with simulation tools, such as Matlab/Simulink, Plecs, PSIM.Familiar with thermal modelling and simulation, such as Ansys/Icepak.Familiar with some microprocessor based control circuit, such as TMS320F28335, TMS320F28069, S32K144.Familiar with gate drive design and power converter design.Strong academic publications, including papers and patents.
