The Digital Youth Network (DYN) at Northwestern’s Office of Community Education Partnerships is dedicated to creating learning environments that support all Evanston youth in developing skills in technology and digital arts. Our signature initiative, Digital Youth Divas, works to create an ecosystem of girl affirming STEM learning opportunities in collaboration with community-based after-school programs and organizations working with middle school students. We are seeking a Community Manager to work full-time who will be the primary community contact for these efforts and who will build relationships through events and communications. Working with the larger DYN team, the Community Manager will lead the organization, logistics, and communications involving key Evanston stakeholders such as parents, organization leaders, program leads, and school district leaders. Since this role involves working with people in organizations across Evanston, the ability to travel for meetings and events during after-school and some weekend hours is required.
Specific Responsibilities: Administration
Ensures that program/project mission, values, guidelines, policies & procedures are implemented & maintained.
Communication, Outreach & Recruitment
Develops coordinated, consistent marketing and brand messages.
Create content that effectively communicates community-based events to stakeholders through newsletters, events, emails.
Creates and nurtures relationships with organizations to develop a network of enthusiastic organizations engaged via active participation in the success of program/project.
Build relationships with local community members (parents and out-of-school program providers)
Communicate with various community stakeholders in Evanston (Program leaders, District staff, out-of-school organizations)
Observes program sessions and interacts with participants for purpose of gaining consumer insight, growing and strengthening program knowledge, and optimizing client satisfaction.
Communicate relevant feedback to internal stakeholders.
Coordinates programming, educational, student, alumni, workshops, meetings, etc. including speakers, agendas, etc.
Organize and participate in community building events and meetings (parent workshops, organization meetings)
Reviews programs/projects to increase efficiencies to support growth.
Gather and update DYN programs and organizations to the EL3 platform.
Ensures compliance with all necessary organizations.
Manage IRB research participant documentation by communicating with research participants to obtain informed consent, collect and store consent in paper and/or electronic forms.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Respond to stakeholder inquiries in a timely manner.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
1 year program/project administration or other relevant experience.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Possess strong written and communication skills
Reliable, organized, task-oriented, and self-motivated
Ability to coordinate daily tasks, communicate effectively, and work as directed
Must be familiar with the IRB process and IRB certified (or willing to become certified)
Task-oriented, team player who is interested in developing community relationships
Must have own transportation to travel among Evanston organizations during afterschool and some weekend hours
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
Some background or understanding of technology systems
Familiarity with research on informal learning and community development
Experience creating content (i.e., emails, newsletters, web content) in an out-of-school context (ex., after-school organizations, sports, educational settings)
Interest in education and learning technologies
