The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition in the College of Human Sciences is seeking a Student Recruitment Specialist to coordinate and lead recruitment efforts for the newly established nursing program, along with the department's established dietetics and nutritional science programs. The Student Recruitment Specialist will create strategies and maximize recruitment efforts to attract potential students; connect with surrounding community colleges, transfer institutions, and local healthcare providers to promote undergraduate programs; collaborate with internal and external partners to identify and respond to potential inquiries and leads; assist applicants through all aspects of the admissions process (both University and program specific); and advise students in their program progress including post-admission requirements. The incumbent will work with faculty to support students in their program and identify those struggling with program performance as it relates to student feedback to faculty and staff to improve program experience. In addition, this position provides secondary administrative support that directly relates to students by organizing logistics of the program practicum course, online teaching, and on-campus orientation sessions.
The successful candidate will possess knowledge of student development and the ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts. In addition, they will have the ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals and possess strong professional and interpersonal communication skills. All staff members are expected to interact collegiality and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethics.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience working in an academic environment and demonstrated ability to relate to students
Experience using effective recruitment tools such as website management, personal contacts, and social media/communications
Experience that demonstrates knowledge of nursing, dietetics, or nutritional science programs
