Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Habilitation Counselor for the Managed Care Services Program at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
The Habilitation Counselor will assist in the development and maintenance of a recovery-oriented environment for adults (age 18 years through maturity). Provides a wide range of case management services to consumers to assist them in regaining control over their own lives and their own recovery process. Provides services in accordance with UBHC and Unit policies and procedures.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provides referral, linkage, transportation, resource information, and support to assigned clients.
Advocates for appropriate resources for clients and families based on assessed needs as measured by supervisory observation.
Provides case management services.
With direction, provides advocacy activities with Departments within the University and/or other assigned agencies and institutions.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all consumers, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
Demonstrates a commitment to facilitate and support personal and professional growth through utilization of effective communication techniques with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in the mental health field or related human services field plus one (1) year of related experience working directly with consumers, their families and the agencies that serve them.
Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).
