Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Assistant for the Department of Surgery at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Graduate Medical Education Program Coordinator or Program Manager, the Program Assistant supports the day-to day activities related to the Residency and Fellowship Programs in the Department and assists with the department programs.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Gathers and organizes documents and files for the residency candidates, including application forms.
Prepares personnel and payroll forms for the fellows, including staff transaction forms for newly hired housestaff.
Collects and compiles data for the department's programs.
Coordinates reservations of facilities, travel arrangements, agendas, and the overall set up of conferences, seminars, or workshops.
Assists in the preparation of reports, presentations and correspondence. Responds to inquiries as directed and distributes informational materials.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus one (1) year of relevant work experience in an administrative function.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the educational requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and using the Internet.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands: standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to exert force up to twenty-five pounds.
