The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UT) invites applications and nominations for a Loan Specialist position. The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 150 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, University Registrar, EM Communications, and the Veterans Resource Center.
Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for processing of Federal Direct and private loans for the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships. Position requires comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, need analysis, and governmental agency guidelines, including but not limited to the IRS, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Homeland Security, Social Security Administration, INS and the Department of Education, for analyzing students' eligibility for Federal and private loans. Resolve Federal and private loan errors. Review, process and reply to student's requests regarding Federal and private loans. The position requires extensive knowledge of federal, state and institutional guidelines. Must be able to work with other University Offices and outside agencies to complete financial aid processes and perform tasks within federal, state and institutional regulations. Assist with resolving Federal Pell Grant rejects and errors. Assist with reconciliation of Federal Loans, as needed, including resolving rejects and errors. Assist with Transfer Monitoring of transfer students to UT. Assist with performing the Federal Return to Title IV (R2T4) processing for student withdrawals. Assist students and parents in the financing options available to achieve their educational pursuits.
