Seeking an energetic, driven, and focused postdoctoral fellow for Dr. Sam, an Investigator at the Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute, Boston University School of Medicine https://www.bumc.bu.edu/busm-wci/ .
This candidate should be able to independently perform molecular biology techniques and cell culture assays and to work on an NIH/ NHLBI funded research project. A major focus of experimentation will be on the regulation of the heart and other tissues (fat, skeletal muscle, kidneys) during HFpEF (heart failure with preserved ejection fraction). HFpEF is a major unmet need as no therapy has been shown to reduce mortality and morbidity.
The candidate will also take part in existing programs in the Sam Lab http://www.bumc.bu.edu/samlab/ that center on cardiac myocyte biology and regulation during hypertrophy and heart failure. A doctoral degree such as PhD or MD and excellent laboratory and written communication skills are required. An ability to work within a team is also essential. Experience with cell or tissue culture, histology, and molecular and cellular biology is also preferred. Experiments will involve genetically modified mice, cell culture and human biological samples.
