The Research Associate I - MRI Hardware Engineering performs a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in the Biomedical Imaging Research Institute's MRI Hardware Engineering Laboratory. Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery. Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results. Assists in general laboratory activities, which may include maintenance of equipment and stocking of supplies. Files and monitors documents. Observes safety standards and procedures. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Performs a variety of routine laboratory tasks and procedures, including soldering and testing, and mechanical assembly, CAD and circuit drawing, basic software development including MATLAB and C, and basic image analysis. 2. Keeps accurate and detailed project records of experiments and results, including electronics DC circuit testing results. 3. Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery, including 3D printers and machinery tools. 4. Maintains lab equipment and related records. 5. Performs lab maintenance duties. 6. Maintains stocks of general lab materials, may place orders for lab equipment and supplies. 7. Assists new students and fellows at the laboratory. 8. Observes and complies with safety standards and procedures.
