Summary of Position: We are seeking a highly motivated entry level researcher with biochemistry or chemical biology experience to participate in several ongoing exciting research projects involving sensing and regulation of iron-dependent cellular pathways and proteomic characterization of protein posttranslational modifications. The candidate will join or take a leadership role in developing new reagents or protocols for chromatin interactome analysis and quantitative analysis of metabolic-sensing protein modification pathways using mass spectrometry and affinity enrichment. Furthermore, the candidate will be involved in functional studies involving cell culture, Western blotting, site-directed mutagenesis, co-immunoprecipitation and biochemical assays.
Essential and Other Functions: 80% Conduct Experiments: (essential) Perform basic cell biology and proteomics experiments, including cell culture and treatment, antibody purification, plasmid preparation, Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, proteomic sample preparation, LCMS analysis and quantitative data analysis.
10% Design Experiments: (essential) Design the routine experiments based on existing protocols or with slight modification from existing protocols, on both a day-to-day and long-term basis.
5% Prepare Results for Presentation: (essential) Compile the data, prepare figures/tables/methodology for manuscript and create posters and slide presentations for scientific meetings.
5% Archive Data and Materials and Perform Basic Lab Maintenance: (essential) Archive all experiments performed in the course of the study, as well as reagents and primary data generated; lead role in ensuring that a full record of the work as well as all strains, clones and reagents are maintained; participate in basic lab maintenance with other lab members.
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Bachelor degree (in chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology or related field) with the basic trainings in cell and molecular biology techniques or a combination of related education and work experience above to equal four years.
Preferred Qualifications: Research experience in protein purification, plasmid construction, immunoprecipitation, enzyme activity assays, familiar with both prokaryotic and mammalian cell cultures, knowledge in LCMS and proteomics data analysis.
