Description Davis 14 is a 36 bed surgical unit. Orthopedic patients are the unit's primary population. We are home to five orthopedic services; Orthopedic trauma, spine, joint replacement, hand and foot. Additionally, it serves as a primary unit for Plastics and receive patients from the Burn Service that do not require ICU level of care.

Qualifications REQUIRED - At least 3 years of recent RN experience working in orthopedics in an acute care setting. - Possession of valid California RN license. - Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. - Current CPR Certification.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT -Ability to safely lift 25 pounds and assist in moving patients, and to stand on feet over extended periods. -Ability to work overtime as defined by the collective bargaining agreements, and to float to other areas and work weekends and holidays. - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
Responsibilities Registered Nurses in the Orthopedic/Trauma department at UC Davis Medical Center provide care to adult and pediatric patients with a variety of medical (Medical surgical, critical care, emergent, perioperative) needs. Patient conditions include: Orthopedic Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Burn Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Neurology and Medicine patients. Provides direct patient care to a diversified patient population. Applies knowledge, experience and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. Participates in patient and staff education. Demonstrates leadership skills. Demonstrates accountability for own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act.
