Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting, Department of Accounting and Finance, William G. Rohrer College of Business – 10 month full-time tenure track position.
Department and College Information:
The Accounting Program at Rowan offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, as well as an Accounting Certificate of Graduate Studies and an Accounting Concentration in the MBA program. It is housed within the Department of Accounting & Finance, which also offers a BS in Finance and a Master of Science in Finance. The department has more than 1,000 accounting and finance majors, making it one of the largest accounting programs in the Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey region, and the department largest of the three departments in the Rohrer College of Business (RCB). The RCB, which is accredited by the International Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), had approximately 2,600 undergraduate and masters’ level students as of Spring 2019. The Rohrer College of Business subscribes to several platforms and data bases, including WRDS, CRSP, Audit Analytics, and Capital IQ, to support its research active faculty.
The accounting program looks to enhance the integration of computing technology and analytical skills through curriculum and pedagogical development, while continuing to build the accounting, leadership and communication skills that the profession demands. We continuously evaluate our curriculum for currency, and have recently introduced new course offerings in the area of data and analytics. We have a strong program of professional development for our students, welcome teaching innovations, and have excellent ties to the regional professional community.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting, maintaining an active research agenda in a related area and in support of quality teaching, participating in assurance of learning activities, mentoring upper division students, engaging actively in department, college, university, and professional service, and participating in business outreach activities. Teaching assignments may include accounting information systems, accounting data analytics courses, as well as principles, intermediate and advanced courses in financial accounting and managerial accounting. Candidates with an interest in the integration of technology and accounting are particularly encouraged to apply, but all areas of specialization are welcomed. Courses are offered using various delivery modes, including traditional classrooms, hybrid, and online.
Ph.D. in Accounting from an AACSB accredited institution by August 31, 2020 is required. We seek excellence in teaching and demonstrated potential as a researcher. Professional certification in accounting is considered a plus (e.g., CPA, CMA, CIA), as is prior experience in graduate and online teaching.

The Department of Accounting and Finance is one of three academic departments within the Rohrer College of Business, which is AACSB-accredited. The other two academic departments are the Department of Marketing and Business Information Systems, and the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship. Significant enrollment growth has been experienced in the major, as well as across the Rohrer College of Business and Rowan University. We expect continued strong enrollment at all levels. The Rohrer College of Business moved into a brand new, state-of-the-art building in January 2017. The college is committed to investing in research support tools for faculty, including new databases and travel support funding.

While many areas in the Washington-Boston corridor are synonymous with high cost of living, Southern New-Jersey/Philadelphia’s cost of living is reasonable. The Philadelphia International Airport is a hub of American Airlines and offers 99 domestic and 39 international non-stop destinations.
