Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by attached resume)
PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field by August 31, 2019. Experience with protein expression and purification, standard molecular biology techniques, design and implementation of enzyme assays and with chromatography (HPLC, FPLC, etc.). First-authored/First co-authored Publication in a scientific journal.
Experience with the biophysical characterization of protein-protein interactions (ITC, SPR, BLI, MST, etc.). Experience with integral membrane proteins, baculovirus expression systems, assay development and/or drug discovery, cell culture techniques, advanced microscopy techniques and with structural biology techniques (X-ray crystallography, Cryo-EM).
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the Department of Biochemistry & Cell Biology. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The selected applicant will be expected to demonstrate professional competence in laboratory research as evidenced by their publication record.
Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct experiments and other research activities in accordance with the research goals of the lab.
Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search, for reporting experimental results in scientific publications.
Assist with training other lab members in specialized scientific techniques.
Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and general lab cleanup.
Other duties as assigned, which may include attending and presenting data at Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
