Working under direct supervision of Dr. Justyna Fert-Bober. as a Research Associate I, you will perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research. Assists in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies. Files and monitors documents. Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results. Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery. Observes safety standards and procedures.
You will be able to perform routine cellular, micro- and molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, lmmunohistochemistry, and staining. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Performs a variety of routine laboratory tasks and procedures and keeps accurate and detailed project records of experiments and results. May assist with animal husbandry. Maintains lab equipment and related records. Transports, processes and logs samples. Maintains computer database with relevant clinical information. Performs lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization.
Maintains stocks of general lab materials, and places orders for lab equipment and supplies. Assists new students and fellows at the laboratory.
Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery. Observes and complies with safety standards and procedures.

Professional member of the laboratory staff who works with minimal supervision but closely with supervisor.
Perform both the routine and technically complex laboratory tests and non-repetitive complex procedures, which require advanced cognitive, manipulative and problem-solving skills.
Activities include operating test equipment, monitoring and evaluation of the quality of testing, verifying and reporting test results.
Additional duties include general and administrative support necessary for the routine operation of the laboratory.
Essential duties will include, but not limited to:
Responsibilities will include routine day to day activities in the lab following established protocols and using aseptic technique to perform routine tests.
Operate and maintain equipment.
Competence with standard and complex molecular biology techniques such as DNA and RNA extractions, genotyping, cloning, PCR, RT-qPCR, sequencing, genomic hybridization, Southern Blotting, etc.)
Laboratory methods/techniques associated with molecular biology and (cell culture, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, gel electrophoresis,).
Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and knowledge of other scripting languages like Python, HTMLR to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
Basic experience in statistical analysis.
Comfortable with extracting, analyzing and manipulating data from large scale public and proprietary data repositories such as TCGA, OMIM, Ensembl, UCSC, dbSNP and ClinVar Ability to write and/or assist in writing of manuscripts for publications and presentations
Ensuring-all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
Ability in regularly emphasizing deductive reasoning and critical thinking * Interacts with service engineers and scheduling maintenance for lab equipment.
Interacts with lab members to design analysis methods for lab members and collaborating research groups.

Perform QC procedures and maintain documentation for assay tracking, results for review and reporting.
Analyze clinical specimens and participation in assay improvements and enhancements. Provides support to other lab members in instrument use.
Work with lab members to design workflow, procedures and work on method development.
