The largest academic unit within Millersville University, the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences consists of 10 departments, five interdisciplinary programs, about 2,300 students and approximately 150 faculty. Reporting directly to the Dean of the College, the Assistant Dean is involved in a range of assignments in support of learning outcomes assessment, program review and accreditation (CAEP, NASAD, NASM), implementation of retention initiatives and strategic plans, as well as day-to-day operations of the College. The Assistant Dean and Dean work with department/program chairs to develop and implement strategic directions; manage resources; faculty, curriculum and resource development; and planning and assessment. The Assistant Dean gathers and maintains data needed for planning, reporting, and preparation of university and system reports. The Assistant Dean provides academic services to students and works with other divisions and academic units to resolve problems that arise. The Assistant Dean supports collaboration among interdisciplinary programs, and represents the College and the Dean in the Dean's absence.
The preferred start date is January 1, 2020. Salary is competitive and based on qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications:Education & Experience:
Master’s Degree in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, or related field.
3 years of relevant experience in higher education teaching and leadership.
Experience dealing with student academic issues.
Experience in academic scheduling.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Strong data analysis skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with faculty and students.
Evidence of commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
Excellent understanding of student learning outcomes assessment.
Understanding of program review process.
Knowledge and understanding of policies and guidelines related to various academic processes.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Successful interview and three background clearances: Criminal Background Check (Act 34); Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151); and FBI Federal Criminal History-Fingerprinting (Act 114).
Terminal degree in a one of the disciplines in the College or related field.
Experience with curriculum development and delivery.
Understanding of budgets and resource allocation.
in a collective bargaining environment.

Experience querying and analyzing student and course-level data.
