Performs works of considerable difficulty in assisting the Vice President of Finance and Administration in the planning and management of the financial operations of the University. Primarily responsible for accounting system and financial reporting. Establishes University financial policies and standards. Directs and oversees the operations of the Bursar’s Office and Accounting Office.
-Develops and maintains a system of general ledger accounting to control financial resources of the University and facilitates reporting.
-Supervises all internal and external financial reporting for the University.
-Supervises work assignments and prioritizes work of accounting office.
-Develops and maintains internal accounting controls to protect resources and detects and eliminates errors in accounting practices.
-Solves accounting problems in the areas of payroll, accounting, cashiering, expenditure accounting, revenue accounting, and sponsored program accounting.
-Assists in external A133 Single audit for the University.
-Reconciles and analyzes accounting financial statements.
-Supports and enhances the University’s purchase card program.
-Represents the University at State legislative sessions, before State bodies and Federal agencies, in support of institutional goals and objectives
Bachelor’s degree with Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification active and in good standing.
At least eight (8) years of work experience in financial management or accounting, with at least five (5) years at the supervisory level.
-Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
-Strong presentation skills.
-Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
-Knowledge and understanding of the mission, goals, organization, and operational/financial infrastructure of a public University.
-Knowledge of accounting standards related to not for profits and universities and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
-Highly developed and comprehensive financial management skills.
-Possess excellent problem solving, analytical and business skills, and strong project management skills to meet deadlines and work effectively with others.
-Effectively supervise staff, build a strong team, successfully lead and deploy innovative technology and efficiencies by providing strong leadership and management skills.

public and private four-year higher education institutions in Missouri.
