OSU-Cascades in Bend, Oregon is seeking an MFA Program Manager. This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE, 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean of Academic Affairs.
The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Program Manager provides administrative and logistical management to the OSU-Cascades MFA low-residency program in Creative Writing (Poetry and Fiction). Students in this program attend two 10-day residency sessions each year (in or near Bend, Oregon), followed by a term of online mentorship. Participating faculty are selected from across the country based on their significant professional accomplishments as authors and their experience in teaching creative writing at the college or university level. The MFA Program Manager will work closely with the MFA Program Lead to provide operational management of all aspects of the program, including support of students and faculty.
OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Oregon is a branch campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university currently enrolls more than 1,100 students in bachelor's and master's degree programs. The campus expanded to a four-year university in 2015, and opened its new campus in 2016. The branch campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 3,000 to 5,000 students by 2025. Typically requires Bachelors Degree in field related to assigned responsibilities. Professional level experience relevant to assigned responsibilities.
Bachelor's in a field related to the fine arts or humanities. One year professional experience in program administration and management. Strong written and oral communication skills. Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Work may include activities on weekends or evenings. The Program Manager will be on site for the full 10-day residency, twice each year.
Additional Salary Information: Starting salary is anticipated to be approximately $47,000, and will be commensurate with skills, education, and experience.
