The Cornell Fitness Centers (CFC) is an essential organization within the Cornell Community with a focus on fostering student physical and mental well-being through movement based activity. The Cornell Fitness Centers is hiring certified personal trainers with excellent communication and strong applied skills, who are friendly, professional, interested in working with a diverse student population and committed to continuing to develop their own Personal Training skills by seeking ongoing learning opportunities.
CFC Personal Trainers conduct fitness consultations according to CFC protocol, design exercise programs, instruct clients about exercise recommendations, and lead them through workout sessions continuously providing feedback. Duties may also include:
Shifts in the fitness centers
Answering questions regarding exercise, and/or delivering instructional special event programs
Providing safe exercise recommendations to clients based on established industry guidelines
Being a responder in the event of an emergency
Being comfortable using and demonstrating all the equipment
This is a temporary position with an anticipated start date of August 9th, 2019, through June 17th 2020. Option to continue employment for additional academic years is available with marvelous performance. Minimum of two semester commitment is preferred. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Pay Rate and Incentives
$13 to $17 per hour
Free Membership to the Cornell Fitness Centers
Shifts are flexible based on one's availability (minimum of 8 hours per week is expected).
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (a short grace period is allowed to acquire first aid certification)
Nationally recognized Personal Trainer Certification (e.g., NSCA, ACSM, ACE, NASM, ISSA, etc.) that is maintained and current.
Personal trainers must complete on the job training within one month of hire.
