The Research Study Coordinator (Senior) coordinates and completes the day to day administrative and technical activities involved in a single complex, large, nationwide or multiple moderately complex concurrent biomedical and/or social-behavioral research study(ies) involving multiple sites& /or longitudinal assessments/ interventions. Ensures that all activities are completed by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and all relevant current local, state, and federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).
The Northwestern Neighborhood & Network Initiative (N3) is looking for Senior Research Coordinator. N3 is an incubator for new ways that faculty, experts, and students at Northwestern can engage communities, civic partners, and policy makers to address core problems facing the residents of urban communities. Our projects commonly consider how the social relationships among networks, geographic communities, and the constellation of groups, organizations, and civic partners affect what we feel, think, and do.
The Senior Research Study Coordinator will work closely with the Data Scientist to support evaluations of several new initiatives in violence prevention, public safety, and policing. This person's responsibilities would include cleaning, coding, and reshaping data using R or Python and running basic statistical analyses. This person may also complete other administrative tasks. Knowledge of basic statistical software packages a must; familiarity (or willingness to learn) network and/or spatial statistics preferred.
This is a term position with an end date of 02/28/2021, with opportunity for renewal based on performance and available funding.
Participates in the planning & conduct of research studies.
Reviews administrative records.
Facilitates communication with key personnel & participants to maintain project study flow.
Administers tests &/or questionnaires following protocols.
Collects, compiles, tabulates &/or process responses.
Cleans, codes, and reshapes data using R or Python
Runs statistical analyses
Manages study databases which may include ensuring that data is collected & entered correctly.
Reviews and analyzes data.
Creates computer models, graphs, reports & summaries for use in publications, professional journals, and grant applications.
Writes portions of grant applications.
Co-authors scientific papers for presentation & publication.
Researches and obtains funding.
Creates & maintains study manuals regarding operating, safety, and etc. procedures.
Ensures that all study documents associated with current local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws and research protocols are completed in a timely manner.
Oversees repair and maintenance of all lab equipment & ensures that lab supplies are ready and available when necessary.
Maintains and reconciles expenditures & balances in regard to research accounts and budgets.
Trains, directs, assigns duties to & may supervise research staff, students, residents and/or fellows.
Acts as a mentor in regard to education of junior coordinators.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 4 years' research study or other relevant experience required; OR
Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 2 years' research study or other relevant experience.
Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

Can run statistical analyses.

Sociology, Political Science, Economics, or Public Health related training.
