The Rutgers Infrastructure Monitoring and Evaluation (RIME) Group has been developing expertise in the Bridge Management, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) of bridges as well as the application of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) coupled with Information Technology (IT) for the past decades. We are now seeking a highly qualified Post-Doctoral Associate/Fellow to synthesize the results of advanced research projects conducted to date and to work toward extending these results to practical analysis and design procedures that can be adopted by the bridge owners and managers as part of their infrastructure management strategies.
Minimum Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, with a background in multiple areas of research, such as but not limited to, bridge management, finite element modeling and analysis using ABAQUS with dynamic perspective, reliability-based analysis methods and probabilistic simulations, structural dynamics, numerical simulation of the dynamic response of bridges, weigh-in-motion (WIM) system and technology, processing and managing big data, load rating of bridges, field instrumentation and testing of bridges, advanced sensor technology, etc.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The candidate should have excellent documentation and communication skills, a strong team-oriented attitude, and self-motivation with the ability to establish work priorities. And should have some of the following qualifications:
Experience with or background in AASHTOWare (Rating, Management and Design) – priority
Proficient in ABAQUS to model a 3D bridge infrastructure. Dynamic analysis skill is highly desired.
Experience in coding using Matlab, R, Fortran for structural analysis and/or data processing,
Experience in weigh-in-motion (WIM) technologies and data,
Prior experience with field-based SHM including sensor instrumentation, bridge monitor, and processing data to synthesize the results into the report, and
Knowledge in different perspective of bridge behavior
