A Postdoctoral position focusing on the ecological and evolutionary impacts of anthropogenic activities on plant demography, population dynamics and ant-plant mutualistic interactions is available in Dr. Orou Gaoue lab (http://volweb.utk.edu/~ogaoue) in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. The Gaoue lab is interested in plant human interaction and use a combination of field observation, mathematical modeling and ethnoecological methods to investigate the ecological impacts of anthropogenic activities and how local people use their ecological knowledge to make decision about resource use.
The postdoctoral scholar will have the opportunity to work on existing sets of demographic data on plant and ants to study the evolutionary ecology of plant-ants interactions, the population dynamics of tropical plants under multiple stressors and to develop additional research programs. The postdoctoral candidate will also have the opportunity to develop independent research projects and gain experience mentoring graduate students.
