The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College Allied Health Department invites applications for our Adjunct Instructor – Medical Assisting Services (Medical Assisting and/or Medical Billing and Coding) general pool of candidates from which part time faculty will be selected for the upcoming term (as needed). UC Blue Ash is the largest regional college in Ohio and one of the largest colleges at the University of Cincinnati. We are an open access college and offer primarily associate degrees with an enrollment of approximately 5100 students. All applicants for this position must have strong communication skills, and be effective classroom facilitators who enjoy teaching in a culturally diverse, student-centered environment.
Medical Assisting Adjunct Faculty responsibilities include: teaching Associate degree administrative and clinical courses including medical terminology, medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), front office procedures, medical insurance, basic clinical techniques, medical laboratory procedures, medication administration, specialty procedures, and medical office emergencies. Medical Billing and Coding Adjunct Faculty responsibilities includeteaching in either the Associate degree or the Certificate program. Courses include medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), advanced coding, medical insurance, medical billing, and front office procedures. All classes may be offered day or evening. Teaching is assigned on an as-needed, semester-by-semester basis. Office hours are required in order to meet with students as needed.
Minimum Qualifications in this program
Medical Assisting: Master's degree in allied health, business, education, or other appropriate field; documented training and 3 to 5 years of actual work experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting as a medical assistant; a current CMA (AAMA) credential; teaching experience preferred OR a bachelor's degree in allied health, business, education, or other appropriate field; documented training and 5 to 7 years of actual work experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting as a medical assistant; a current CMA (AAMA) credential; and teaching experience preferred.
Medical Billing and Coding:Master's degree in allied health, business, education, or other appropriate field; documented training and 3 to 5 years of actual work experience performing outpatient medical billing and coding procedures; a current credential including the Certified Professional Coder (CPC),Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS), and/or CMA (AAMA) credential; teaching experience preferred OR a bachelor's degree in allied health, business, education, or other appropriate field; documented training and 5 to 7 years of actual work experience performing outpatient medical billing and coding procedures; a current credential including the Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS), and/or CMA (AAMA) credential.
