Assistant Director of Game Operations and Facilities
Job Description: Responsibilities:
Serve as Administrator of Game Operations by:
Supervising game operations for volleyball, women's basketball, baseball, and women's lacrosse. Will supervise other games as needed and assigned.
Prepares and distributes to staff and other Furman departments in a timely manner all information required for the execution a game.
Meets with internal departments as necessary to discuss game requirements.
During games and events, supervises part-time employees and third party labor and oversees all aspects of facility operations related to the games or events.
Responsible for screening music played during pregame for assigned sports.
May assist Director of Marketing in developing and maintaining game scripts and PA books for assigned sports.
Assists Marketing in execution of in-game promotions and entertainment for assigned sports.
Assist with the Management and Operations of Athletic Facilities
Serve as a facility representative at events as assigned; facilitate pre- and post-event walk-throughs to assess facility condition; enforce facility policies and procedures throughout each event; identify and resolve event challenges; resolve public complaints; problem solve as necessary
Assist with the oversite of production elements; including but not limited to: security, IT, guest services, operations, cleaning, and concessions, from set up, to event conclusion, including move out.
Assists in the overall management of concession operations.
Manage and maintain athletic events calendar utilizing the campus scheduling software.
Coordinate with Marketing, Van Wagner representatives, and event sponsors on in-game promotions and announcements.
Assists in the recruiting, hiring, training and supervision of event and student staff for events and games.
Troubleshoots equipment, including bleachers, scoreboards, sound systems and lights in an effort to ensure proper functioning for all events.
Oversees the timely completion of work orders submitted to the Facilities Department and vendors to correct malfunctions as necessary and/or appropriate.
Assists in the game and venue management for all assigned postseason NCAA or SOCON events.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Responsibility for Final Decisions: Oversees the operations of part-time event staff and student employees, directing work assignments for game day and event operations.
Reports To: Associate Athletics Director/Facilities & Game Operations
Work is performed independently on routine work, non-routine issues or questions are referred to the supervisor.
Bachelor's Degree in related field with experience in athletic or event operations and management.
Excellent communication and organization skills, plus demonstrated ability in the development of operational routines and programs.
Professional demeanor with the ability to interface with internal and external customers with diplomacy and tact is essential.Excellent oral communication skills are required when responding to questions from students, parents, alumni, employees and the general public in one-on-one or group situations.Ability to develop rapport and maintain relationships with students, faculty, parents, staff and sports fans.
Ability to collaborate and work well with others.
Mastery of multi-tasking on a grand scale.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, react quickly and have superior problem solving skills.
Must be dependable and maintain a positive approach to customer service.
Must have intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).In addition to producing correspondence, memos, and emails, duties may involve assignments that require creating spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations.
Prior experience in an athletic/events setting.
Prior experience in a university setting.
Work Conditions: Work is performed under usual office conditions as well as a variety of sports settings and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat and cold. The noise level work environment is usually moderate, but can be occasionally extremely loud.
Must be able to work extended and irregular, non-traditional hours.
