The primary purpose of the Conflicts of Interest Analyst (COI) is to work under minimal supervision to perform regulatory monitoring reviews that supports operations and responsibilities of the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance. The COI Analyst conducts complex monitoring and assurance activities to determine adherence to internal controls, education/training requirements, and compliance with established policies, procedures and regulatory requirements associated with conflicts of interest reporting and responsible conduct of research training.
Reporting to and under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, the COI Analyst will be responsible for first level review of conflict of interest and commitment disclosures for compliance with all applicable federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures. The incumbent will collect, analyze and categorize financial disclosure information for further review and evaluation. Responsibilities include using critical thinking and analytical skills, and sound judgement, to propose determinations and management strategies when reviewing potential conflicts of interest. The COI Analyst will maintain a record of all conflicts of interest matters scheduled for review by the Conflicts of Interest Committee, while performing administrative duties to ensure that all pertinent documents and information are available to the Committee to facilitate their evaluation of such matters. Among other responsibilities, the COI Analyst will serve as a resource for and provide guidance to the ECU community, answering questions regarding COI policies, procedures, practices, determinations, and other conflicts of interest-related questions. The COI Analyst will be involved in system and business process enhancement discussions and provide valuable input for improvements based on community feedback and experience. In addition, the COI Analyst will assist in various research integrity and compliance initiatives such as conducting focused reviews, inquiries, and investigations. The position will work closely with other staff, faculty members, and institutional leaders on compliance with relevant federal and state regulations regarding conflicts of interest and other compliance areas. The incumbent will provide administrative support to the Conflict of Interest Committee.

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
