The Lake Campus Career Services Advisor provides career education, one-on-one career exploration and career development/experiential learning advising. A Career Services Advisor provides comprehensive services delivery to career-specific populations of student, alumni, faculty and employers.
- Master's degree in higher education student affairs, career development or related field. - Versatile team player with demonstrated skills in the areas of written and verbal communication, collaboration, counseling, advising and presenting. - 1 year experience in a career services or human resources-related field.
- Demonstrated experience in a university or related setting. - Employer development & event planning experience. - Graduate level coursework & training in career counseling, career assessment, & career development theory. - Demonstrated experience with collaborative initiatives. - Experience with content development for web sites and social media.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
(50%) - Provide comprehensive counseling and advising services regarding career assessment, career path options, career decision making and preparation for employment opportunities. - Conduct career advising sessions with a focus on marketable skills, job search strategies, interview techniques, networking, business etiquette and professional use of social media. - Promote department website, database management tools, and social media accounts. - Fulfill classroom presentation requests.
(30%) - Foster employer relation activities for new and existing employers. - Organize career-specific recruitment and student/employer engagement to include career events, employer panels, networking sessions, campus interviews and employer marketing sessions. - Promote employer opportunities for experiential, co-op, intern and career employment.
(15%) - Build and maintain Lake Campus faculty and staff relations to promote the benefits of career programming while maximizing student engagement. - Collaborate with other Lake Campus student service teams as well as the Dayton Student Success and Career Center. - Coordinate the collection of career services outcome measures, and the reporting of relevant data and improvement plans. Participate in unit-level training.
(5%) – Completes other duties as assigned.
