The Financial Administrator I is an exempt employee engaged in the day-to-day administration of financial, human resource, and reporting transactions within the LCB Business Office. Duties are of low to moderate complexity and require problem solving, clear communication and excellent customer service. This position will provide guidance to staff and faculty on process related topics in accordance with local, state, federal, and university regulations. The Financial Administrator I will report to the HR Manager with a dotted line to the Business Officer.
Financial and Administrative Duties
Provide college wide administration for various HR functions, including but not limited to, payroll processing, timekeeping, leave administration, separations, reporting, and compliance tracking.
Coordinate and monitor a variety of financial administrative activities including budgets, requisitions, PO's and p-card purchases; cash deposits and account reconciliations.
Assist in the development and adherence of unit policies and procedures to ensure compliance with university, state, and federal regulations
Prepare PCR's, journal entries, payments, financial analysis and reports
Perform internal auditing of financial records and funds
Monitor the financial status of unit programs and other budget allocations
Review all financial expenditures to ensure compliance with applicable university financial policies and prevent deficit fund balances
Ensure that p-card charges are appropriately allocated and independently reviewed
Perform pre-award and post-award grant-related duties as assigned
Assist undergraduate program staff with processing and reconciling scholarship awards using Catalyst, UC Flex and other systems
Perform related financial and HR duties based on departmental need
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; - OR- Associate's degree and two (2) years' experience; -OR- four (4) years' experience; degree must be in accounting or related field with related finance or accounting experience.
Knowledge of university financial policies, standard financial principles, theories and practices
Excellent customer service and collaboration skills
Detail-oriented with strong ethics and business acumen
Flexible in managing conflicting goals and shifting priorities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to analyze operating practices to improve departmental efficiencies
Self-motivated, team player with the ability to generate ideas, make decisions, and work with minimal supervision
Proficient in UC Flex, Concur, ESM, Catalyst and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
