SUNY Morrisville seeks candidates for a part-time Instructional Support Assistant in Livestock/Agriculture Business for the Livestock and Agriculture Business Program in the Agriculture Science Department. The candidate will be expected to perform the following tasks:
Organization, Management, Maintenance and Cleaning of the Morrisville Livestock Institute Facility:
Flock of commercial sheep
Herd of commercial and Red Angus beef cattle
Supervision of all aspects of the livestock program at SUNY Morrisville. Including, but not limited to, barn duty, livestock marketing, livestock production, meat sales, class trips/tours, livestock regulations, supervision of students and employees, food safety, etc.
Coordinate all business, financial and market activities for the Syracuse regional market, on campus markets, and Taste of NY Stores, associated with the Agriculture Science Department.
Collaborate and coordinate projects with the SUNY Morrisville Dairy Facility, working with the Farm Manager and Herdsman to perform task needed.
Provide coverage for the SUNY Morrisville Dairy Facility staff during instances of emergency or absence
Provide timely products, support and documents (invoices, reports, livestock records, feed cost, etc.) for the following program.
Morrisville Livestock Institute
Agriculture Science Department
Sales (Morrisville Fresh Products, Meat, Live Animals, etc.)
Collaborate and prepare activities with faculty and staff
Provide tours and answer questions about the facilities and the related programs associated with SUNY Morrisville
Bachelor degree in closely related area, along with supervisory and industry experience, is preferred. Specific knowledge, in either sheep, beef cattle or marketing, will be beneficial. Candidate should possess demonstrated competencies developed from industry experience. Important competency areas include: human resource management, time management, livestock management, equipment use and maintenance, and other related areas. Position requires some heavy physical labor, outdoor work under adverse weather conditions, a current NYS Driver's License, work at offsite locations, and some evening/weekend hours.
