Post Doctoral Fellow - Advanced Lung Therapy - (190000NJ)
The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform cutting-edge research in CPU and GPU-based 4D radiotherapy for thoracic and abdominal cancer. Research areas include developing and implementing patient-specific multimodality (MRI, CT, optical) image-based 4D motion models, virtual bronchoscopy- and SPECT-based functional avoidance in lung RT, and designing novel multimodality dynamic phantoms.
This is a two-year, full-time, mentored research position. The successful candidate will receive a regular mentorship and evaluation, be trained and encouraged to disseminate research findings in major national conferences and peer-reviewed publications and seek extramural research funding.
Our group works on high performance computing-based radiotherapy research with a strong focus towards clinical translation. Our lab has several high-end GPU workstations and state-of-the-art radiotherapy systems including Varian Truebeam and Edge linacs, Raysearch and Eclipse treatment planning systems, and VisionRT surface photogrammetry.

PhD in Medical Physics, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field. Expertise required in one or more of the following areas: deformable image registration, image segmentation, graphics packages (VTK/ITK, 3DSlicerRT), and/or mathematical modeling. Strong scientific programming/scripting skills in CUDA, C#, C++, Python, etc. are highly desired. Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills as evidenced by publications and oral presentations at major professional meetings. Basic knowledge of radiation therapy is desired, but not required.
