The Dean of Math, Engineering & Computer Science reports to the Executive Dean of General Education and Transfer Studies. The Dean oversees the operations of instructional programs, is responsible for the fiscal management of the department budget, promotes equitable student access and outcomes, and support the college's values of diversity and equity.

Chemeketa Community College is the third largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, with approximately 29,000 students enrolled from a diversity of backgrounds. Chemeketa has seven locations, Salem campus, Yamhill Valley campus, Brooks Regional Training facility, Woodburn center, Polk center, Center for Business & Industry and Viticulture at Eola. Chemeketa's district encompasses nearly 2,700 square miles of the Mid-Willamette Valley and includes all of Marion, Polk, and most of Yamhill counties with a small portion of Linn County. About 465,000 citizens live in the district, with Salem, the capitol city of the state of Oregon, comprising the largest single concentration of citizens.

The successful candidate will have:
Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field with coursework in these areas -AND- Two years of college-level teaching experience -AND- Two years administration experience in supervising personnel, budgeting, planning, and development
Sound understanding of the community college learning environment and a commitment to the comprehensive community college mission
Demonstrated experience working to address equity gaps in educational outcomes
Demonstrated value for culturally diverse faculty, students and staff, and, an ability to foster a work environment conducive to cultural and linguistic diversity and mutual development
Demonstrated value of hiring faculty in order to diversify and reflect
Chemeketa's diverse student body
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interpret and effectively communicate college policy and direction to faculty, staff and the public
Experience in successfully planning, developing, directing, and evaluating higher education programs and demonstrated ability to effectively delegate responsibility
Commitment to student success; ability to connect with students; sensitivity to the needs of current and emerging community college student populations
Commitment to professional development and continuous learning for self and others
Ability to articulate a consistent administrative philosophy, use resources to maximize learning and career development opportunities for students and staff, analyze issues and problems, formulate and articulate department goals, facilitate problem resolution and evaluate outcomes
Academic coursework in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science and/or a doctoral degree
Experience in a community college setting
Experience as an instructor in one or more of the academic disciplines in the department
Experience in providing leadership for a department and support of effective teaching/learning processes
Experience facilitating groups with diverse interests
Experience establishing a positive, team-building process
