The Department of Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. Responsibilities include the Directing of Clinical Informatics within the Department of Pathology and the clinical laboratories of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare (NMHC), which includes Northwestern Memorial Hospital and 9 other NMHC hospitals. The Director will provide expertise and oversight for the implementation, operations, upgrading and leveraging of the electronic medical record, the laboratory information systems and digital pathology platforms for the healthcare system for the clinical care of NMHC patients. The Director will be embedded in the Clinical Informatics Division of NMHC and will work closely with the Chief Medical Informatics Officer and their team of Clinical Informaticians on projects that integrate Pathology and Lab data. There will be a substantial role in the education of students, residents and fellows, both within the Department of Pathology and in other Departments and Centers, on topics of Clinical Informatics. There will also be many opportunities for collaboration with the Division of Computational Pathology in digital pathology, genomics and clinical decision support using deep learning applications within the Department of Pathology. Other important collaborations will be with the Division of Health and Biomedical Informatics within the Department of Preventive Medicine, and with the Northwestern Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS).
Qualified candidates will have an MD or MD/PhD degree and will be board certified in AP, CP or AP/CP by the American Board of Pathology (ABP). Candidates should be board certified by ABP in Clinical Informatics or have extensive experience (over 5 years) working in this specialty. A strong track record in teaching, scholarship or technology development is expected.
